Walker Of The Worlds -
Chapter 3713: Watching Xukong
Lin Mu looked at Xukong with visible confusion after hearing the strange phrase.
"Make the spear sleep?" he asked.
The massive spider shifted slightly where he rested near the Ethereal Altar. The countless drifting streaks of Spatial Energy around him bent naturally toward his body before vanishing into his bone white shell.
Xukong’s ten golden eyes reflected faint silver light as he regarded Lin Mu calmly.
"You already sensed it yourself, did you not?" Xukong asked. "The Spatial Energy within the husk feels different from ordinary energy."
Lin Mu nodded immediately.
"Yes." he answered after a moment of thought. "It feels... alive."
Xukong’s eyes gleamed faintly.
"That is because, in a way, it still is."
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes slightly.
Xukong continued calmly.
"The husk was once part of me. Even after separation, traces of my consciousness and instinct remained within it. Those traces are weak, fragmented, and incomplete, yet they still exist."
Lin Mu instantly recalled how the husk had behaved during the forging process.
The violent reactions.
The instinctive defenses.
The reinforcing spatial barriers.
At the time they had assumed it was merely the natural response of concentrated Spatial Energy.
But now...
He realized there had indeed been something more to it.
"It still carries instinct," Xukong explained. "And now that you forged it into weapons, those instincts have become more concentrated."
Lin Mu looked thoughtful.
Xukong then added something else that startled him further.
"In time, the spears will likely develop true sentience."
Lin Mu’s brows rose.
"Already?" he asked.
Immortal weapons developing intelligence was not unheard of.
In fact, the higher grade immortal weapons often possessed primitive instincts already. Truly powerful weapons could eventually develop intelligence, sentience, and even souls over time.
Still, that process normally required enormous amounts of time.
Hundreds of years at the very least.
More commonly thousands.
Only weapons used and nourished constantly by powerful cultivators could evolve faster.
Yet Xukong sounded entirely certain.
"These spears are different," the spider stated simply.
"They were forged from a material far beyond ordinary immortal standards. Once they are continuously nourished by battle, bloodshed, Dao Traces, and their wielders’ wills, they will awaken far sooner than normal."
Lin Mu looked down at his hands thoughtfully.
He suddenly remembered how Collapse had reacted almost instinctively during testing. The spear had used Blink without direct control. At the time, he thought it was merely resonance with his spatial skills.
Now he understood there had been more to it.
The spear itself had responded to his intent.
"They may even become superior to average Peak Grade immortal weapons from the moment they awaken," Xukong added casually.
Lin Mu could only nod slowly.
He did not even know how to classify the spears anymore.
Immortal rank?
Transcendent rank?
Neither felt sufficient.
The weapons already possessed powers that exceeded most things Lin Mu had seen in the Immortal Realm.
He then asked the most important question.
"How will you make it sleep?"
Xukong lifted one of his massive legs slightly.
"I will suppress the remnant consciousness within the spear and place it into dormancy," he explained. "That alone will calm most of the unstable spatial reactions."
Lin Mu listened attentively.
"But that is not enough," Xukong continued. "The spear itself remains too dangerous for Meng Bai. So I will add seals as well."
"Seals?" Lin Mu asked.
"Yes. Layered restraints." Xukong nodded. "The seals will gradually weaken as Meng Bai grows stronger. The spear’s power will unlock naturally alongside his cultivation."
Lin Mu’s eyes brightened slightly.
That was actually perfect.
Rather than permanently weakening the spear, Xukong was essentially creating progressive restrictions that Meng Bai could naturally overcome over time.
"In addition," Xukong continued, "I will weave formation arrays within the spear itself."
Lin Mu became even more interested.
"What kind of arrays?"
"Conversion arrays," Xukong answered. "At present, the spear converts all energy into Spatial Qi automatically. That process is beneficial for you, but disastrous for Meng Bai."
Lin Mu nodded immediately.
"For him, ordinary Qi compatibility will be safer. So I will create an internal regulation array that allows him to channel his own energy through the spear without automatic spatial conversion."
Lin Mu instantly understood the brilliance behind it.
Meng Bai specialized in formations and normal cultivation paths. Having access to stable energy flow would help him far more than chaotic Spatial Qi he could not properly control.
Lin Mu briefly considered whether he should ask for similar modifications to Collapse.
But after only a few seconds, he dismissed the thought.
Collapse was different.
That spear had been forged for destruction.
For overwhelming force... For war.
The unrestricted Spatial Qi conversion amplified its killing power immensely. Adding restraints or stabilizing formations would only reduce its potential. Besides, Lin Mu himself could already utilize other energies perfectly fine without the spear.
He did not wish to weaken Collapse’s true nature.
Stasis and Collapse had already begun embodying entirely different concepts.
One for preservation.
One for destruction.
Lin Mu finally took out Stasis and offered it respectfully toward Xukong.
The massive spider accepted the spear carefully between two legs.
Even Xukong’s eyes lingered upon it for a moment.
"It turned out well," he admitted.
Coming from him, that praise carried enormous weight.
Lin Mu smiled faintly.
Then he asked another question.
"How long will this take?"
"About a month," Xukong answered.
Lin Mu blinked.
"A month?" he repeated in surprise.
Even the forging itself had not shocked him as much as hearing that.
Xukong let out a low chuckle.
"You underestimate the complexity of what you created," he replied. "The spear is already a highly integrated structure of Spatial Energy. Adding seals and internal formations without destabilizing its nature requires precision."
He then narrowed his eyes slightly.
"And the arrays I intend to use are not simple."
Lin Mu understood immediately.
If even Xukong required a month, then the process truly must be extraordinarily complicated.
Still, Lin Mu’s eyes brightened afterward.
"May I observe?" he asked without hesitation.
He would never miss such an opportunity.
