Chapter 1613: Breaking Barriers: The Third Trial (8)
Although Ataraxia had only begun to figure out the first couple movements that complemented the energy circuit he created, the young man showed no hesitation in showing Aeramis what happened when both circuit and movement were combined together.
Fwoosh!
Tightly braiding both energy and concept into firm strands, the young man swiftly moved the strands along the nodes on his body that corresponded to the circuit, allowing him to sense the growing power that was emanating from said strands.
Then, at the very moment he felt the strands attain their peak power after reaching the final node, it was only then did Ataraxia make his move, calmly taking a step forward as his body moved according to a certain timing.
Whoosh!
With his body aimed towards the desert portion of the terrain, the young man more or less disappeared in front of Aeramis without a trace, only to appear a few hundred meters away from the desert’s inner region around a second later.
“What…”
Seeing how Ataraxia appeared near the edge of the desert’s inner region in just one movement, it went without saying that Aeramis was left at an utter loss for words.
Then again, who would expect someone like him, who’d only been given one lesson on creating personal skills from scratch… to be able to create a False Intent-tier skill on what was considered their first attempt?
Continuing to look at where the young man stood with his mouth slightly agape, the gears within the man’s mind began to turn as he tried to process what was going on.
Though Aeramis briefly wondered if the young man had taken a path into the desert that avoided all of the pillars along the way, that slight doubt quickly disappeared the moment he recalled what the latter showed him just now.
After all, with his stats and abilities as an Ancient Monarch, even though it seemed like Ataraxia had disappeared from his field of vision for a brief moment, the man was still able to follow the young man’s movements from start to finish.
With that thought in mind, he was able to confirm that the young man did not take any shortcut to arrive at the edge of the desert’s inner region.
Instead, by utilizing both the movement and the circuit he devised in the most efficient way possible, Ataraxia was able to swerve through the pillars not only with immense ease, but also at speeds that would leave even newly ascended Myths speechless.
’Although the incongruence between the circuit and the movement makes it somewhat obvious that the skill he showed me is still incomplete…’
’There’s no doubt that once he finds all of the compatible movements for the circuit, he’ll be the owner of a brand new False Intent-tier movement skill.’
’A considerably strong False Intent-tier movement skill at that.’
As these thoughts began to linger within Aeramis’ mind, the man continued to watch Ataraxia move through the desert region with the help of the incomplete movement skill, disappearing for brief moments before appearing at a spot usually a few hundred meters away not even a second later.
Continuing to watch the latter move through the desert as if it were a flat plain, the man began to notice that the incongruence between the movement and the circuit of Ataraxia’s skill gradually disappeared over time.
Not only that, but he also noticed that the young man continued to discover a few more movements that were compatible with his circuit during this entire process, only stopping to take a break back at where he stood after traversing what was basically the entire desert region.
Seeing that it would still take Ataraxia a bit of time to finalize the movements that would make up his first attempt for the third trial, Aeramis decided to close his eyes once more for the meantime, considering how long it took for the young man to figure out the circuit he would use for the skill.
However, not even an hour after he had decided to take a quick nap, the man found himself getting shook awake by the young man, the latter’s expression a mix of excitement and anticipation as he looked at Aeramis.
“I’m done,” said Ataraxia, briefly causing the latter to look at him in slight confusion.
Though, after his consciousness had fully returned to the waking world, the man returned the young man’s words with a look of slight incredulity. “That fast?”
“Yeah.” The young man nodded as if it were a matter of course. “Although the first couple of movements took a while to figure out, while I was trying the movements out on the desert, I began to realize and adapt more movements that were more compatible with the energy circuit I devised than the ones I used.”
Shrugging, he continued, “After that, I spent some time reducing the number of movements down to a level I was satisfied with, making sure that the movements I chose had high compatibility with the circuit, as well as had the ability to encompass a wide number of scenarios.”
Briefly falling silent in response to Ataraxia’s words, the man took in a deep breath before asking, “How many movements did you end up using in your final version of the skill?”
As this question came to mind, Aeramis recalled that most False Intent-tier movement skills usually had movements that numbered in the double digits. After all, there was only so much of the chosen concept that one movement could encompass.
Though, as far as he knew, the most powerful movement skills in the same tier only had movements numbering around 20 at most.
With that in mind, even if the number of movements Ataraxia chose to use on his skill went above this limit, Aeramis would still look at the skill as if it were a treasure.
After all, it was the first movement skill the young man had made. There was bound to be a ton of room for improvement, especially once he gave the young man advice on what to improve after seeing it firsthand.
Aside from that, the brief demonstration Ataraxia showed him earlier gave him the feeling that there was more to the skill than meets the eye.
Thus, with slightly bated breath, Aeramis looked at the young man as he waited for the latter’s answer to his question.
However, once he heard the number that left Ataraxia’s mouth, the man could not help but look at the young man with incredulity once more.
