Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse (WN)
Chapter 5324: An Intent Cleaves Chernobyl! II

Noah held Seo-yeon and thought about THE Fourth Scale of Existence.

It was equivalent, in its way, to the early stages of Einherjar Source power, the threshold he had just crossed himself, and in the memories of the Gilded Ones he had devoured across his time in THE Braneworld, every one of them had revered beings who reached it. Not feared. Revered. A Fourth Scale being was something that moved with purpose and intent, that exerted itself in a way that reshaped the space around it, that had stopped being a participant in existence and started being a force that existence accommodated.

But there were levels to everything.

Multiple Fourth Scale entities had come for his assassination not long ago, four of them carrying the full weight of beings who had traversed time itself, and Sir William had dispatched every single one of them in a short span with a single letter of THE Primordial Tongue backed by his own Intent.

They had been Fourth Scale. Sir William had treated them as a task to complete rather than a battle to win. Which meant Sir William’s power, his Intent, had to be of a rarity much grander than theirs!

He filed that as he consoled the girl.

Sir William floated over alone.

Sensing him, Seo-yeon moved behind Noah, peering around him at the approaching Source Lifeform with open distrust, her small hands gripping his infinity clothing.

She had spent eons alone in agony while beings of exactly this tier did nothing for her, and she had no reason to extend trust to any of them now.

Noah looked at Sir William as well.

He did not blame the man for what had happened to Seo-yeon. The full breadth of the situation was not Sir William’s making. But the entire complex arrangement, a child left to suffer for eons while the Swords debated whether to kill her, did not leave Noah feeling warm toward the Swords of Existence.

He was going to need to know considerably more about them before he decided what this relationship actually was.

Sir William’s eyes were sharp.

"There are many astonishing beings across existence," he said. "Oddities that others cannot fathom, anomalies that should not occur and occur anyway. I am pleased to be looking at one now." A pause.

"As much as I wish to ask how you did what you did, for the sake of safety, we must leave immediately. Grand choices always carry grand consequences. Existence does not leave grand events unanswered, and the Swords of Existence know this better than anyone. Let us...relocate until we have confirmed a few things."

He kept his composure, but Noah felt the urgency beneath it.

He was about to reply when the sky answered for him.

HOOONG!

A booming impact echoed across Chernobyl and they all looked up!

The vibrant obsidian seas that had been wrapping the surrounding distances, the lockdown the Source Lifeforms had raised to hide the resuscitation, shattered. A brilliant silver light tore across everything above and began to spread out over Chernobyl, vast and grand and heavy, and it was not an attack in the conventional sense.

It was an Intent.

An Akashic Civilizational Intent.

The weight of it was so grand that the three Source Lifeforms who had been moving with Sir William high above had their bodies blaze with the resplendent obsidian light of THE Primordial Source as they were forced back down toward this region, their expressions somber, even they unable to fully stop the silver light from spreading. Where the silver Intent passed, existence turned to a mush of silver dullness, and already it looked like a horrid silver gash had been carved along all of Chernobyl, a scar running across the reborn domain.

The Prime Causes cried out.

Noah felt it closely, intimately, because these were his Prime Causes, the ones he had installed across Chernobyl with his own hands, and the silver Intent was attacking them, dulling them, scarring the foundations he had just rebuilt as his own existence roared!

Sir William moved coldly.

He unsheathed his blade, and a roaring phantom of obsidian regality unfolded around him, vast and dignified, and he slashed upward while speaking the letter of THE Primordial Tongue.

"Destruere."

BOOM!

Noah caught a glimpse of Sir William’s own Intent layered over the letter as the attack went up to meet the silver Intent bearing down, and the impact of the two forces blooming against each other altered existence across their entire surroundings.

Incoming Intent identified: Akashic Civilizational Intent, Acedia-aligned. Third rarity- Titan Intent.

Analysis: The incoming Intent is attempting to mimic the legendary Akashic Civilizational Intent of The Great Sloevin. This is not a natural Intent. It is a product of Gilded engineering, an innovation attempting to replicate a rare Intent’s structure artificially. The silver dullness it spreads is the Acedia truth imposed as a record, a stilling that lazily unmakes what it touches. It is formidable and it is artificial, which makes it both terrifying and incomplete.

Sir William Arthur’s Intent identified: Akashic Civilizational Intent, third rarity- Titan Intent. Distinction: honor and dignity. Full distinction not yet known. His record is one of duty upheld and standards maintained regardless of cost, and his Intent imposes that record onto existence, demanding that what it touches conduct itself with the dignity his entire existence has embodied. Backed by the letter Destruere, it carries the additional weight of THE Primordial Source.

The two Titan Intents met above Chernobyl!

HUUM!

Existence buckled where they met, the silver stilling pressing against the obsidian dignity, the artificial Acedia record warring against the genuine record of a being who had upheld his standards across eons!

For a moment the outcome was uncertain, two third-rarity Intents pressing against each other with the full weight of Fourth Scale power behind them.

Then Sir William’s attack, backed by the letter of THE Primordial Tongue, forced the silver Intent to retreat!

It did not retreat in defeat. It retreated lazily, unhurried, the withdrawal of an Acedia expression that saw no reason to expend effort holding a position it could simply abandon and reclaim later. But it retreated, and the silver scar across Chernobyl stopped spreading.

The three Source Lifeforms came around Sir William.

Noah took them in quickly. Each wore their own suit, their own Source Armament cut to their nature. One held an ancient-looking obsidian sniper rifle, long and precise.

Another carried a massive obsidian hammer that pressed on the space around it. The third held an obsidian gold flail, its segments drifting with restrained menace!

They circled around Noah and a startled Seo-yeon, who held onto him tightly while looking around at the gathering powers with wide cautious eyes!

...!
