Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy -
Chapter 3610: Ronrons Fun
Ronron watched her father increase the bid with a gleeful look on her face. Having rarely gotten the chance to leave the Sky God's palace, she was starved for some entertainment.
As Alex returned, she leaned in close to him. "Is a million spirit stones not too much for it, father? Let us not overspend if we don't have to."
"That's fine," Alex said. "The flower itself is more than worth it for that price. In fact, it's bound to go higher because of just how good it is."
Ronron nodded slowly. "Can I be the one to bid next time?"
Alex shrugged. "Go ahead."
"Why are we wasting time here?" Greensoul asked from behind. "Let's just leave already."
"The worker hasn't returned yet, senior. So there's nowhere for us to go anyway. Besides, Ronron is having fun, so we might as well stay around."
The man said nothing after that and gestured for them to continue.
The bids slowly grew more and more, and Ronron managed to sneak through the crowd, making her own bid. She increased it to 1.3 million spirit stones. There were several people that were becoming increasingly unhappy with the price increase.
As Ronron returned, an older man followed her out.
"Young lady!" he spoke in a low voice.
"Hmm?" Ronron turned around. "Can I help you, senior?"
The man looked at Ronron, trying to judge her status based on her looks. His eyes moved toward Alex in the back, who he had seen her with.
"The two of you should stop bidding," the man said.
Ronron's eyes narrowed. "Why should we, senior?"
The man looked around. "It's for your own good."
Alex frowned slightly. Was this man threatening them?
"We'll do as we want," Ronron said without caring for the man's threat. "You should mind your own business, senior."
"You children don't know what you're getting yourselves into," the man said in a voice that was barely above a whisper. "Were you born yesterday or what? You are so weak, and yet you dare flaunt your wealth in front of so many people. Didn't anyone teach you to keep a low profile?"
Alex was slightly taken aback. He no longer understood if the man was threatening them or warning them for their own good.
"Thank you for your warning, senior. But we can handle ourselves," Ronron said and walked back to where Alex was.
The old man grumbled something about unappreciative children and moved back into the crowd.
"There are so many people trying to purchase this one ingredient, huh?" Ronron said. "I wonder why they didn't send it to an auction instead."
"Probably because they understood the strength of their own store and knew that this would do as good as any auction would."
Ronron made a face that looked doubtful. "This floor only gets so many people. And not that many know this is being sold here in the first place. An auction would no doubt be much better."
Alex nodded. "It's true that an auction may bring more money than doing it this way, but there's no guarantee. There is a price everyone is willing to pay for this flower, despite how great it is. At a certain point, people just won't bid anymore, even in an auction house. On top of that, this is a fantastic way to draw in more customers. If you were to find out that this place auctions rare pills and ingredients every so often, you would be more inclined to come over and see what's happening here. That alone is worth more than any money they could gain from using an auction house."
Ronron finally nodded, understanding the situation better.
"So the bids should start slowing down soon, right?" Ronron asked.
"It should."
"What's a good price for this flower if it were to be sold normally?"
That Alex could not answer. He thought for a moment, considering all the time that would be saved and how many years of cultivation they could spend on the next realm.
"Its worth changes from person to person. For someone who can cultivate and break through in just a few decades, it's probably not worth as much. But if the person takes thousands of years, it's likely going to be worth so much more."
"That makes sense," Ronron said. "I would probably not pay more than 3 million for it."
Alex gestured just then. "It might be time to bid again."
Ronron nodded and went ahead to increase the bid.
"Dear customer!"
Around the same time, the male staff from before returned.
Alex looked toward the man. "Oh! Are you done searching for them?"
"Yes. We have most of what you will need. Here is the list of ingredients that we can provide," the staff said as he handed over two talismans. One was Alex's own talisman and the other was the actual list of what they would be selling.
Alex looked inside and saw that they had most of the main ingredients he was hoping to buy. In very few cases did they not have the ingredients and had to instead use alternate ingredients.
At the same time, the list also included the prices of every ingredient. Alex went through everything, noticing that they were a bit more pricey than what he was used to.
But then, the prices he was aware of in most cases belonged to the Silvermist Alchemy Court, which had massive alchemy gardens and grew their own ingredients. These people likely bought them from elsewhere.
It wasn't so high a price that he wouldn't be paying anyway.
"Did we get the ingredients?" Ronron asked as she returned.
Alex nodded. "Did you increase the bid?"
"It's at 1.5 million now," she said. "Not many others are bidding, so it might be soon."
Alex smiled. He then turned toward the male staff and handed back his talisman. "I wish to buy all of these. Please take care of that for me."
The male staff nodded and brought out a metal token.
"Please keep this. I shall return shortly."
