Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy -
Chapter 3597: A Scenario
Alex's words barely made it past the arguing couple, causing them both to turn around to look at him again.
"What did you say?" the husband asked.
"I have an answer to your issue," Alex said.
Both the husband and wife were focused on the word 'answer' more than anything at that point, and their expressions darkened in response. Alex claimed not to have an argument, but rather an answer itself. Neither of them liked such an audacious claim.
"You have an answer?" Bluedoor asked. "Well, then tell me which one of us is correct."
"I can. Would you like me to answer it within the realm of it being hypothetical, or would you like a realistic answer?" Alex asked.
"How does that change your answer?" the woman asked. "Give us both."
"Well, realistically speaking, the argument simply doesn't make sense at all. A body is simply incapable of taking in the brain of another person while it is still alive, so there will be rejection. The only way to make it work is for the cultivator to first destroy any remnant of the original spirit in the second body before transferring their brain into it. However, at that point, the body would be more of a puppet than anything else."
The two listened carefully, not immediately reacting to what they heard.
"And what of the hypothetical?" the woman asked. "What if, say, you did successfully transplant it? Does this then become the first cultivator, or the second?"
"Then in that instance, it depends on the mental strength of the person whose brain it is."
"Mental strength?" the husband asked. "How so?"
"While the brain is an important organ just for being what it is, it is also the location where a person's Spiritual Sea is located," Alex said, pointing to his head. "If you were to successfully place that brain into a person's body, then the spirit within the second body will fight to occupy the first person's Spiritual Sea. Depending on the winner of said fight, the second cultivator could either gain a new identity or retain his original one."
Wildgust's eyes narrowed. "How do you know that's how it works?" she asked.
"That's not how it works. As I said, the brain will die since it is most definitely incompatible with a new body. However, should the body somehow manage to accept it, that is how their interaction will go down."
Neither the husband nor the wife could come up with anything to say in that moment that they could place as an argument. To both of them, who were so educated in the matters of the human body, spirit, and Qi, his words made just too much sense for them to bring forth an argument.
"Forget about it," Bluedoor said. "Why have you come here again? Something about your father?"
Alex wanted to laugh at how quickly the man changed topics, but he didn't let his thoughts be known. "Yes. I was hoping to gain whatever you've understood about my father's situation. Any records you might've kept, or findings that you haven't shared."
The man narrowed his eyebrows. "Aren't you a healer yourself? Surely you don't need my help?"
Alex gave an awkward smile. "I am, but I could never dare claim to be better than you, senior. Whatever I wish to do going forward will be determined by how much you wish to help me. Your knowledge might just be what I require to help my father with his situation."
The woman rolled her eyes, while the man suddenly let out a boisterous laugh. "Of course, of course. I would be happy to help a junior. Give me a second."
The man went through either his memories or his Soul Space to find what Alex needed just then. The wife looked toward Alex with a knowing look.
Alex could only smile a little. It seemed his intuition was correct at that moment. The man was quite weak to flattery.
"Here we go," the man said, bringing out a few talismans. He looked through them, nodding as he went along. "Right, this problem. I tried thinking of a solution to fix your father's meridians, but nothing I tried worked. No matter how much I tried to make pills that changed his meridians, they kept reverting back to how they were. His body seems to be extremely resilient to change, to a point where I've never seen such a thing before in my life."
Alex nodded as he took the handed talismans and looked through them. He knew a bit about his father's meridians, but since he hadn't gone through them since the last time back in the lower realm, he wanted to see how a regular healer of this world diagnosed his issues.
From what Alex could see, it did look as though the man had found some fixes, but those worked only temporarily as his body reverted quickly.
There was quite a bit to read, and even more to think about once he actually looked into his father's body again.
He placed away the talismans and turned to the two. "Thank you, seniors. I greatly appreciate your help. Please don't hesitate to ask me for anything should you need something from me."
"I just did my job. I don't need payment for that," the man said, waving at Alex.
"You don't have to be so crude. Just say his thanks are all you need," the wife said.
"But it's true. I do get paid by the Sky God for this job."
"You don't have to tell him that. Sometimes it's better not to say something at all."
"This wasn't one of those situations though."
"It very much was."
Ronron walked up to Alex and tugged on his robe. "They'll be going on like this for some time now. We should leave."
Alex watched the husband and wife lose themselves to their argument again and could only shake his head slightly as he turned and left without saying any goodbye.
He had received what he had come there for, so the next thing to do was go and deal with his father's issues.
