Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy -
Chapter 3165: Detailed Report
“The original Black Tortoise’s bloodline spread thin as it passed from generation to generation. As more outsiders are added to the family, the further it deviates from the original bloodline.”
“The deviation is still very much a Black Tortoise, but the bloodline elements within them are fewer, to a point where the later ones are born without certain skills altogether.”
“In order to mediate that, I had all the different blood gathered, and the various family trees collected so I could use the sum of all to finally come as close as I can to the progenitor.”
“Although, truth is, I can probably never come as close. As you have seen, the bloodline elements have no distinct difference from one another in terms of who they belong to. As such, even when I collect only the common ones from every single family, I will still only reach what will in the end be a combination of the progenitor and his partner. In a way, my best attempt will result solely in creating a type of blood that could belong to the progenitor’s children.”
The matriarchs stood before Alex, taking in his explanation of how he had chosen what to do with the blood and what the consequences would be.
The two knew more or less what had happened, but they still appreciated the detailed report.
Alex continued with the rest of his explanation.
“When Qi comes in contact with these bloodline elements during cultivation, the elements appear to burn away, turning into pure energy that improves the beast’s bloodline.”
“These bloodline elements need to be strong enough to survive this process, which I have decided to name ‘bloodline consumption! Most of them tend to be weak to start with, so you have to fill them up with life aura in order to make them do so!”
“As long as you make sure to do that, most of the bloodline elements will undergo bloodline consumption, leaving very few to go to waste.” Alex bowed slightly, gesturing that he was done speaking. He waited for the matriarch to speak, which they did after a long consideration. “Do you think it is possible to discover which bloodline element is responsible for which technique?” the tortoise asked.
Alex blinked for a moment. “I… cannot answer that with any hint of guarantee. Perhaps there is a way, but I do not know of one. It is possible that if I were to test each Black Tortoise individually, learn what technique they have and what they don’t, cross-reference that with their bloodline elements, and chart those across all the thousands of Black Tortoise that exist in the palace, then I could receive a much better understanding of what elements or
combinations of elements are responsible for what.”
The tortoise raised an eyebrow. “Could you do that?”
Alex paused for a moment, hesitating. In the end, he could only speak the truth. “I’m sorry. That task will take a very long time for me to do, and I do not have that sort of time. I plan on leaving this world within the next two decades, so I cannot accept this task.”
“You wish to leave this world?” the snake asked in surprise. “Didn’t you arrive here just a few years ago?”
“I did,” Alex said. “But I have a reason to leave.”
“That’s a shame,” the tortoise said. “Even if you didn’t turn out to be the sun god, your knowledge and talent in what you’re doing would’ve made you a valuable asset to the beasts.”
Alex gave a humble smile, saying nothing else.
“Moving back to the report, have you realized why the bloodline elements go through this ‘bloodline consumption’ process?” the snake asked.
“I do not,” Alex said. “Trying to understand such a thing is simply
beyond my capacity. The most I have are speculations based on no evidence.”
“That’s a shame,” the tortoise said.
“Still, let us hear your speculations,” the snake said.
Alex took a moment to think through his speculations and began speaking.
“When you told me about Unity, I had a thought. Cultivation is not the only thing that can bring a body and soul together. They already have a physical connection in us.”
Alex pointed to his forehead. “Your Blood Essence. It’s the physical manifestation of your body’s connection to your soul. Whenever they improve, your essence improves as well. As your bloodline changes, your blood essence needs to change as well. So, I had a thought. What if the bloodline elements that are being consumed are empowering your blood essence? What if they are slowly changing it, so that you gain a better bloodline?”
The two sisters looked surprised. “Could such a thing be true?” the tortoise asked.
“I cannot answer that, matriarch. As I said, it is only a speculation. But it is something to keep in mind the next time you test someone,” Alex
said.
The matriarchs gave the speculation a long thought, both seeing a
genuine possibility of it being true.
“We will have to test it,” she said. “Would you be up for a small experimentation?”
Alex blinked for a few moments. “Perhaps. Will it take a long time?”
The two sisters conversed through their bond before turning toward Alex. “The young snake you helped a week ago, you were familiar with
him to begin with, were you not?”
Alex nodded.
“Would you like to help him further?”
Alex raised an eyebrow. “Am I to assume that we will be helping improve the tortoise Xuan Luhei’s bloodline?” he asked.
“Precisely,” the snake matriarch said. “Not by a lot, just enough to see
if your speculation is true or not. How long will it take you to prepare the blood for this case?”
Alex wondered for a moment. “Give me 90 days. I focused only on the snake half of the bloodline the last time.”
“Very well. We can meet again 90 days later. Go prepare the blood
until then,” the matriarch said.
Alex thanked the two and returned to his place to prepare for the next experiment before the second test.
