Death... and me
Chapter 3850: Xian’s Journey

Rean helped Xian absorb three mindless Umbras, which was still far from enough for Xian to fully recover. However, that was definitely enough to prevent Xian from disappearing. With that done, Rean brought Xian to see the others and discuss what had happened.

"Thank you, senior Rean, Roan, and everyone, too," Xian started. "I had already given up at that point, but seeing you there was truly... unbelievable."

Rean waved his hand. "Before you get the wrong idea, we didn’t really go there to look for you. We didn’t expect to ever see you again, actually. I was just as surprised to see you there. So, what happened after we separated?"

Xian then began to explain.

Turns out that after they went their separate ways, Xian tried to stay hidden, just like Rean said, doing his best to avoid any of the Level Three or Two Umbras. The impressive part was that the Universe Owner back then, Kunprio, truly didn’t find him after that day.

Kunprio went around, capturing quite a few Level Three Umbras, but he didn’t manage to find the twins’ group. Obviously, Kunprio believed that he was the only one capable of leaving that place and that the twins’ group would be trapped. He kept looking, thinking that the twins’ group was hiding there somehow. Little did Kunprio know the twins had actually left with the help of their system.

On his way back to the skirts of the Umbral Field, Xian was found by a Level Two Umbra. However, that Umbra was close to Level Three, so an Umbra like Xian wouldn’t provide it with any nourishment whatsoever. Xian’s Energy Quality was too poor.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t just because the Umbra was a Level Two that it was unreasonable. The guy, whom Xian said was called Gogoo, out of amusement, kept Xian with him to run some tasks and have some fun. Eventually, they went back to the area where the low-level Umbras stayed, and Xian was finally able to meet his Big sister and younger brothers.

But that ’happiness’ didn’t last much longer. After the twins got rid of the Corrupted System, the fabric of space was unsealed, and the Level Two and Three Umbras immediately noticed. In fact, even the mindless Umbras instinctively noticed that, causing havoc and opening spatial gates everywhere.

How could anyone lose that opportunity? All Umbras pretty much always wanted to leave that place. After all, there was a time limit to their lives, and the Contructor Orbs would eventually absorb them when that time arrived. But what if they left? Xian and his siblings did what all the other Umbras did. They left the fabric of space and arrived in the real world.

At first, Xian’s group tried to stay hidden, not willing to go after any of the living beings. They were all just Level One Umbras, so it was too risky for them. Well, partially... Level One Umbras were still somewhat equivalent to Space-Time Realm experts since they could use laws. That was definitely a very powerful existence still. It’s just that they were much weaker than living Space-Time Realm Experts for apparent reasons.

But then, while the twins were waiting for the system to upgrade, the Level Four Umbra became the Universe Owner. Using his status and memories, he connected to all Umbras in the Universe and passed an order. They were to fight the Werdlem Empire, or all the Umbras would be destroyed.

That wasn’t a lie. Considering the state of this Universe, it was very likely that the Werdlem Empire would get rid of the Umbras. In the first few days after the Werdlem Empire arrived, the Umbras were still hesitant to follow those orders.

But seeing how the Werdlem Empire kept wiping out all Umbras, the Umbras had no choice but to fight back. Fortunately, the Level Four Umbra blocked the network signals in this Universe, so he was basically the only one who could contact others anywhere he wanted.

Through his orders, the Umbras organized, and he made quite a few appearances himself since he became the Universe Owner. Many times, the Celestial Realm Experts of the Werdlem Empire acted. They concentrated their power and attacked the inside of Universe D33, trying to get rid of that Umbra Universe Owner. Too bad they couldn’t enter the Universe themselves due to their cultivation.

In any case, the Umbra was always ready for those attacks. He could literally feel when those attacks came and could defend or escape.

And so, this situation arose where the Werdlem Empire could not make any gains, but the Umbras could not win either. Xian saw himself forced to take part in one of the battles in exchange for leaving his young brother and sisters out of it.

Finally, Xian was surrounded, and he thought he would be killed there. Yet, to his surprise, he was actually captured, together with quite a few other Umbras, all over the Universe. Was it luck? Was it not? He couldn’t tell. He knew there would be many experiments carried out on him and the others, so he could only wait and see.

Yet, he was suddenly taken out of the place where the Umbras were being stored. Then, inside that Spaceship, he met Rean again.

"So many things..." Rean couldn’t help but comment. "Wait, does that mean you are always receiving messages from the Universe Owner?"

Xian nodded. "Yes. He can’t possibly contact the Umbras one by one, so he just gives an overall message to the various fronts, telling them what to do and where to go. He put the Level Three Umbras in charge, too. Now that I think about it, ever since I entered your Pocket Dimensional Realm, I haven’t heard him anymore."

That was to be expected, but the twins didn’t tell Xian about it. "Let’s just say our Pocket Dimensional Realm is special."

Xian understood and didn’t insist. "In any case, thank you for helping me, seniors. How can I repay you for saving my life again?"

Roan brushed it aside. "Forget that. You just happened to be there, so the idiot helped you out." He wouldn’t tell that it was likely the Destiny Attraction again either. "So, what do you intend to do now?"

Xian already knew. "Obviously, I’m going back to my siblings. Now that opening Spatial Gates is possible, it shouldn’t be too hard."

"So you need us to help you get there?" Rean asked.

"No," Xian refused, though. "I will not get in your way again, seniors. But know this, I will definitely repay you for everything one day. I won’t let myself be captured again."

Rean smiled, patting his head. "You matured quite fast, didn’t you? I can’t see that childish personality anymore."

Truth be told, it would be meaningless to bring Xian with them since they would eventually run out of mindless Umbras for him to absorb. He had to stay in D33. "Very well. Give me that bracelet. I’ll recharge it with my Light Element."

Rean was obviously talking of the Light Element Bracelet he had modified for Xian so he could absorb the Umbras’ energies without side effects.

"Sorry... I left it with my sister and the others." Yet, Xian did not have it.

"Oh!" Rean didn’t mind, of course. Instead, he decided to make a new one on the spot. "Zangeshu, Tanxan, give me a hand. As for you, Xian, use this time to absorb a few more of the mindless Umbras so you have enough energy to go back on your own."

"Understood!" Xian happily accepted.

Finally, three days later, Xian appeared outside. He checked the Star Chart that Rean gave him, quickly finding where he had to go. Then, with a Spatial Gate, he left. No one knows when they would meet again... perhaps it would be sooner than anyone expected.
