Chaos' Heir -
Chapter 1492: Treason
After a while, Liiza and Jenna could finally see their men returning from their private talk, and both women couldn’t help but appreciate the scene.
Ilman was handsome as always, his red hair and eyes adding a devilish charm to his figure, which his uncovered, muscular arms highlighted.
Meanwhile, Khan was shorter than Ilman and not as handsome, but his domineering attire and aura more than compensated for that. His silver crown perfectly suited him, triggering thoughts and reactions that shouldn’t be spoken in public.
Jenna whispered something in Liiza’s ear at the scene, making her giggle and glare jokingly at her. The mental connection told Khan that the exchange didn’t involve anything pure, but he pretended not to notice, wanting to keep the girls’ talk private.
"How I have missed you, my dear!" Ilman shouted, throwing his empty cup away to rush to Jenna.
Childish happiness beamed on Jenna’s face as she fell into Ilman’s hug, wrapping her arms around his neck while mustering a teasing, sensual tone. "Love, are words all you have for me?"
To Khan and Liiza’s surprise, Ilman understood what Jenna meant, diving into a passionate kiss that seemed to isolate the new couple from the rest of the world.
The Nele group had moved while Ilman and Khan were away. It had yet to merge with the vast crowd, but had come closer to it while heading for where the Niqols were.
That peripheral position wasn’t exactly public, but it wasn’t private, either, especially with all the eyes pointed at the scenes unfolding inside the purple halo. In short, that wasn’t the proper place to delve into displays of affection, but both Niqols and Nele followed different rules.
Meanwhile, Khan and Liiza had a much tamer reunion, only exchanging a quick kiss before he handed her a full, fuming cup. He had one himself, which he savored while hugging his wife from behind.
"[We are cuter]," Khan whispered in the Niqols’ language in Liiza’s ear.
Liiza just smiled, throwing another look at the kissing couple before tilting her head to rest it on Khan’s. He had his chin on her shoulder, and their glowing eyes instinctively fell on the small child in her arms, which also served to isolate them from the rest of the world.
"[I’ll accompany them to the Niqols]," Liiza eventually voiced. "[I can handle the introductions]."
Liiza obviously didn’t need to say that. Khan knew she was more than capable of dealing with that political aspect. In many ways, it was better for her to handle it since she was a Niqols herself.
However, Liiza also knew that the Niqols would steal much of Khan’s time, especially due to their arrangement, and once the Nele joined them.
Zalpa, Doku, and the others weren’t alone. Princess Rebecca was with them, as well as George and other humans. More of those were bound to join them, too, as the cauldrons grew emptier, creating a situation Khan would have a hard time escaping.
And Khan couldn’t waste time enjoying himself just yet. He had more important people to meet, and the evolved representatives would eventually reclaim his presence. His schedule was still full, so Liiza wanted to share part of his burden.
"[I don’t want to leave my two favorite girls in the universe alone just yet]," Khan joked, even mustering a childish voice.
"[Your girls will be fine]," Liiza reassured. "[I should also feed this little one again and put her to bed]."
"[Putting her to bed without her Papa]?" Khan gasped. "[I can see through your strategy, Mama. This is a conspiracy]!"
"[I can’t do what I claimed I’ll do in front of our daughter]," Liiza teased, charming Khan with the look she threw at him. "[And we’ll put her to bed together before returning to the representatives]."
Khan was ready to kiss Liiza on the spot, putting Jenna and Ilman’s passion to shame, but held back, knowing he would be unable to stop once he started.
"[You drive a hard bargain]," Khan scoffed dramatically. "[Know that I’ll always be our little Princess’ favorite]."
"[She’ll be so spoiled once she grows up]," Liiza sighed. "[In the meantime, be glad that you’ll always be my favorite]."
Khan opened his mouth, only to frown at that sudden interruption of the joking mood. Liiza even dealt a final blow with a quick kiss before escaping Khan’s hug to approach the Nele under his stunned, confused gaze.
’I’m so, so doomed,’ Khan thought, even if a smile broadened on his face at the sight of the Nele welcoming Liiza in their group.
Those two similar but also opposite species had somehow come together, even creating a union that was nothing short of a miracle. Perhaps that was where the beauty of the universe lay, and Khan lingered in that inspection for an additional second before disappearing from his spot.
The evolved representatives would be Khan’s final stop. The Niqols group and whoever they had welcomed would need to be the second-last, meaning Khan had to address everyone else before getting there.
The nobles were taken care of for now, and Khan could limit his interactions with the newly arrived Orlats to basic introductions.
Similar introductions would have to happen for all the other species at that vast gathering, but Khan could wait for everyone to be drunker. That task would be easier at that point, and definitely funnier.
Khan had also exhausted the candidates he had in mind for the fight against the True Chaos’ Kings. At least, he planned to refocus on the subject after the party, once he made the mandatory speech everyone was expecting from him.
That left few potential targets Khan could prioritize in the meantime, but his choice felt obvious once he sensed two people in the middle of a mostly human side of the crowd.
There was no need for formal invitations to join the meeting on what was left of Aynor. Still, clearly, only figures with a particular political relevance or influence could decide to attend to it.
Headmistress Holwen and Mister Cirvags were among those figures. The former mostly had privileges thanks to Khan’s family, while Mister Cirvags worked on Baoway. Besides, the Thilku Emperor was there, so he couldn’t miss that chance.
The two and the troops around them lifted their eyes when a blue glow shone on them. Khan hovered right above the group, his bright eyes fixed on the old soldier wearing similar Thilku colors.
"My treason must not look so bad now, does it?" Khan asked, knowing Mister Cirvags would understand where he was coming from.
