Chaos' Heir -
Chapter 1441: Reunion
The world around Monica abruptly changed. Natural sunlight resumed shining upon her while she adjusted herself to her new location, eventually realizing she had returned to the quadrant’s sandy surface.
Moreover, Monica soon saw that she wasn’t alone. George was right next to her, sitting on the white sand while showing a knowing smirk.
"Were you also abandoned mid-conversation?" George asked, the slight confusion on Monica’s face already providing a partial confirmation.
"Did something happen?" Monica wondered, not knowing how seriously she should take the event.
"I don’t know," George admitted. "Khan said something about a bird and then just vanished."
"A bird?" Monica repeated before faint echoes of a screech reached the area, making her search for its source in the clear sky.
George reacted in the same way, but a frown appeared on his face, followed by a confused mutter. "I know that sound."
Meanwhile, near the edge of the quadrant, a white figure that had no business being on Earth flew across the sky, its vast, feathered wings unfolded to maintain a limited but constant speed.
The big, three-eyed alien bird could go far faster and would typically engage in all kinds of dangerous aerial maneuvers. Still, it made a point to maintain cruise speed, being as straight as possible and limiting the unavoidable friction force, worried that the tiny figure resting on its back might fall.
Yet, the alien bird suddenly sensed something and tilted its unfolded wings to stop its slow hovering, even raising its head to inspect its surroundings, only for its back to grow heavier and bright lights to shine on top of it.
Khan was the first to arrive. His knees gracefully landed on the white feathers while a similarly pure light shone in front of him.
Liiza teleported on the white feathers, only to see that her husband had already caught the small figure carelessly napping on that cozy bed, securing her since she didn’t bother to do so.
For some reason, little Yeza and Snow had been flying alone through Earth’s skies, and the two worried parents didn’t even know where to begin addressing that matter.
Of course, other priorities took over Khan and Liiza, temporarily sidelining that concerning event. They had finally reunited with their daughter after being away for almost three months, so nothing else could exist in their minds.
Khan had limited himself to securing the sleeping Yeza, placing a hand at her side to make sure she couldn’t roll off Snow’s back.
Still, Liiza didn’t have similar concerns and couldn’t really hold herself back. As soon as she materialized, she sat down and mimicked Khan’s careful touch, lifting Yeza in the process.
Yeza didn’t wake up as she ended up between Liiza’s arms. She actually seemed to relax even more in her mother’s embrace and under her father’s light caresses. That apparent coziness spread to her parents, who snuggled closer while illuminating her in their blue and white light.
Liiza leaned her head on Khan’s shoulder while he wrapped an arm around her back. Everything else remained on Yeza, and Liiza even sniffed once during that heartfelt reunion.
Khan rubbed his head on Liiza’s as their loving inspection continued. They had just seen Yeza on camera a few hours ago, but nothing could beat having her between their arms.
The details Khan and Liiza had spotted during the video call became undeniable now. Yeza did look far tougher than the average four-month-old child. She was still vulnerable, especially when napping so peacefully, but her body conveyed a firmness that couldn’t possibly belong to such a young baby.
Some of that had to do with Yeza’s inborn mana. She was like a Niqols in that sense, not needing external mana cores to gain access to and control that magical energy, leading to an overall superior foundation.
Yet, most of that had to do with Yeza’s cells. Now that she was within reach, Khan could clearly sense that his same power ran through his daughter’s veins. A still underdeveloped might filled her flesh, conveying a familiar hunger.
Snow partook in that joint inspection, only for an inquisitive and slightly angry blue light to shine on its oddly turned head. Khan didn’t know how that situation had come to be, and the Aduns felt all the blame converging on it.
Snow looked for Liiza’s support, but she only focused on the sleeping Yeza, leaving it to face the scary Khan alone. The Aduns tried to convey innocence through the mental connection, but Khan pretended not to buy it, his overprotective side showing no openings for forgiveness.
"No more flights until my daughter can properly hold onto you," Khan warned. "Got it?"
Snow wanted to complain. That was a proper misunderstanding, but its screeches couldn’t explain the situation in detail.
Actually, Snow even felt that Khan knew who the real culprit was, but she couldn’t possibly be the target of his admonishments, especially when her sleeping face looked so cute, leaving the Aduns to take all the blame.
Luckily for Snow, a soft groan eventually resounded on its back, diverting Khan’s attention. A second set of blue lights joined the area as Yeza woke up and opened her eyes, showing a smile accompanied by a happy sound as soon as she spotted her parents’ faces.
"Ba-ba!" Yeza exclaimed, and Khan promptly lowered his head toward her.
"Yes, your Ba-ba is finally here," Khan whispered, kissing Yeza’s head, "And he won’t leave you ever again."
Yeza laughed, clinging to Khan’s long blue strands as he retracted his head, only for her to divert her attention when Liiza also leaned down.
"Ba-ba!" Yeza exclaimed again, letting go of Khan’s hair while Liiza kissed her head, not noticing the emotional blow she had inflicted on her father.
"[You have no idea how much your Mama missed you]," Liiza said in her native language, her voice highlighting the Mama part while she brought Yeza closer to her chest.
Khan leaned toward Yeza again while Liiza began to rock her, whispering words directly into her ear. "Ba-ba is Papa. Pa.. Pa."
The whispers only tickled Yeza, making her giggle. Khan didn’t want to give up just yet, but his daughter’s happy face defeated him. He retracted his head, sitting properly, pretending not to notice the smiling kiss that landed on his cheek.
As for Snow, it turned and lowered its head, pretending to focus on flying despite barely hovering forward, hoping to have escaped its scary predicament.
