Earlier, Gardenia had explained that none of these abilities could exert their original power anymore; they now existed only in diminished forms. To restore them, Elayne would need to feed them Soul Essence gradually, perhaps even relearn them from scratch.

When Elayne asked about the cost of restoration, Gardenia admitted that even the cheapest option required around five hundred thousand Spirit Power, far beyond what Elayne could afford right now.

Elayne then inquired about the Soul Traits. Gardenia replied that each cost three hundred thousand. That might be a wiser investment for the moment. She also mentioned that Spiritual Heart Beasts were available, though they would take time to mature and would need to mutate to adapt properly to the Netherworld.

Elayne frowned, torn between the Mystic Bellflower and the Pagoda Soul Traits.

Gardenia reminded her that either choice would start in a much weaker state. Yet, unlike before, these abilities now had Tiers, a strange new development that allowed them to grow beyond their previous limits and evolve into stronger forms. It was odd that this system had appeared when it hadn’t existed before, making Elayne wonder if it was somehow connected to the larger System itself.

After thinking calmly for a moment, Elayne weighed her options: acquire a Spiritual Heart Beast and mutate it into a new type of Nether Spirit Beast, which could grant unprecedented powers and magic but would also require constant care and feeding; choose a Soul Trait that would be weaker at first but held the potential to surpass its original strength with enough time and effort; or… obtain the Magic Circle Fragment? She hadn’t asked about that one yet.

“What about the Magic Circle Fragment?” she asked. “You didn’t mention anything about that.”

“Oh, that one should cost roughly the same as your Unique Abilities,” Gardenia explained. “It’s only a fragment, but it could potentially return to its former glory and even surpass it. However, Mana in the Netherworld isn’t as pure or abundant, so the Magic Circle might not be as strong as before, or it could change entirely, or take a long time to develop the exact Runes you want. There are many variables.”

“Okay…” Elayne nodded. “A Spiritual Heart Beast would place extra strain on my soul right now, so I want to strengthen it further before choosing one. I’ll go with a Soul Trait. And the best one is… a power that all Undead fear most—the brilliance of the sun itself. It will also serve as excellent defense while my Halo is… missing for the time being.”

“Yeah, I’m not sure what happened to that,” Gardenia said. “You probably lost it when you died. Anyway, let’s go with that.”

FLUOSH!

Elayne felt a huge amount of her Spiritual Energy drain away, flowing into her soul where it condensed into a bright clump before releasing a pure spark of energy.

A small, cracked golden orb appeared within her soul, growing larger and connecting to her through countless Soul and Spirit Circuits.

“T-This is…?!”

Elayne instantly felt stronger once the connection formed. The orb was her Soul Core, the place where her Soul Traits resided.

Visions followed: blinding light, the sun itself, life and the vibrant world of the living. All these memories compressed and solidified into a towering pagoda of golden sunlight… which then shrank until it was barely the size of a car.

Ding!

[You have exchanged 300,000 Spiritual Energy Reserves.]

[You have obtained the Soul Trait: [Amaterasu-no-Kami’s Heavenly Sun Prison Pagoda – Tier 1]]

“There it is!” Elayne cheered. “It definitely feels much weaker now—like a tenth of its original power.”

“Exactly,” Gardenia nodded. “But it will still be very useful as it is. Can you wield it?”

“Let me try…” Elayne said. “Hmmm… Ah!”

She focused on her palms and began drawing out the light from the small floating pagoda of golden sunlight.

The moment the sunlight touched her hands, however…

“Ugh…?!”

It burned her skin, turning it to ash in seconds. Even her bones began charring black.

“Woah!”

She quickly deactivated the ability and paused, letting her internal energies and Cursed Runes regenerate her body with the passive help of her [Undead Body] Skill, which restored her as long as she had Nether Energy.

“It’s dangerous for Undead—even for me…” she muttered. “I have to be careful how I use this power. It’s strange… Hey, Mark, did you see that?”

“I saw it!” Mark came running over after testing his Ring. “Did it hurt?”

“A little, but it’s fine now,” Elayne replied. “I’m just worried. Isn’t your Ring based on Sunlight? Hasn’t it ever burned you?”

“No?” he said, puzzled. “I guess it should, but it never has. It’s weird, right? I don’t know why.”

“I agree, it’s odd,” Elayne nodded.

“Maybe it’s because Mark’s sunlight is a byproduct of Spiritual Energy,” Gardenia suggested. “Your sunlight, however, comes from a Higher Seat—a powerful Divine Entity from the Living World of Earth, a parallel world to ours. Even here in the Netherworld, that sunlight still shines brightly, though limited.”

“So that’s why…” Elayne said, rubbing her chin. “Oh well. I’ll practice and train for now. We should reach White Tooth Village pretty soon—a day or two at most—so let’s make the most of this time to prepare, Mark.”

“Sure!” he agreed.

Over the next three days, Elayne trained nonstop with her new Abilities and Skills, gradually learning to manipulate a little more of the Divine Sunlight from her Soul Trait without burning herself.

Then, for the first time, the Domain stopped moving through the underground tunnels of the Labyrinth Region. The ground above trembled as a staircase formed from Elayne’s Earth Magic, created through her Earthly Spirit Ring.

One by one, Elayne, Mark, Lisette, Yaga, Sailor, Norman, and Shade climbed the stairs and emerged into the open air.

Their group was already large, but they couldn’t afford to grow much bigger. They were numerous enough that few would dare attack them, yet not so enormous as to attract unwanted attention.

They were just one member away from becoming too noticeable, so they had to finish this quickly.
